Abstract

This article examines Macedonian folk legends, beliefs and images, that concern the existence of the dragon from Ohrid lake (the Lamia). Separate points of analysis of this topic are the universal and mythological notions that take part in the construction of regional authenticity, emphasizing the interpretation of the cosmological aspect. The relation between the imaginary and the real in the domain of interpretation of reality is theoretically examined.
