Abstract

Наметнувањето единствен национален идентитет од страна на балканските национални држави стана главна цел на нивната официјална политика. Од почетокот на нивното постоење, балканските национални држави (со исклучок наЈугославија) се обидоа да ги означат етничките граници на нивните територии, за да воспостават цврсти етнички и политички граници. Помаците, словенско-муслиманскаетничка група, која го населува просторот на Родопите и течението на реката Места во Република Бугарија, се само еден пример за обидите на државната власт да го промени нивниот национален идентитет.
